sytycd season 8

It’s been so long since I’ve blogged but after watching sytycd… I just felt the HUGE URGE to blog about this!

I just wanted to list in point form regarding some of things that I would like to see on the show and improvements to it. (thought i should get down to this since it’s season 8 - 8 freaking years - time to voice out!)

  •  Please GET BETTER HIP HOP CHOREOGRAPHERS.
why? Because Chris who was the hip hop choreographer last night just didn’t seem to do the routines any justice. His routines are like Dan Karathy’s (whom Blake McGrath said wasn’t very good in season 1 - anyone remember?) They don’t entertain, the storyline isn’t well-told, I get lost/bored through the routines, there is no peak to his routines (nothing to look forward to or will make the audience go AHHHHH)
I also don’t understand why they don’t ask Wade Robson to create hip hop choreographies instead. Cos I’m pretty sure he will be WICKED with his choreographies
Marty K (his last name is just a mouthful, but he choreographs for Justin Timberlake) did 2 routines for sytycd but both pieces turned out flop cos the dancers JUST CAN’T DO his smooth lyrical hip hop. It would be AWESOME though if they could bring him back again and get dancers who CAN do his choreography.
I also don’t understand why younger choreographers/dancers can’t be brought in. People like Nick Bass, Misha Gabriel (MJ’s This is It dancers, Boa choreographers) Kenny Wormald. It’ll be a BLAST. After all, Travis Wall is a young choreographer!

  • Do something about the lack of female hip hop competitors!!!
Do you seriously think that there’s a lack of female hip hop dancers in USA? I DON’T THINK SO! Look at people like Ellen Kim, Gigi Torres - awesome hip hop dancers who have not auditioned
Or even members of Beatfreak (e.g. Rino Nakosone) - awesome professional hip hop dancers - they auditioned for another dance show instead. WHY?? may be someone should do a survey  cos I just feel that this group of dancers are severely underrepresented!
  • How about placing dancers in groups - of 3 or of 4 - just like in the introduction - for competition - not everyone can do group routines well and that brings more variety to the show as well - better and more interesting choreography can be done with more dancers. It will be interesting. Some dances - e.g. hip hop choreography may benefit from a group performance rather than a pair performance as well.
  • GET MIA BACK TO CHOREOGRAPH. seriously. I would rather see her work than see her judge cos her work just amazes.
YUPS. Hope someone from Fox reads this.

different platforms

Been a while since i’ve last messed around with different platforms and i thought it would be good to try again.

Hence i’ve started up a blogger site to see which one I really prefer. Gonna start a tumblr as well and see how it turns out.

Heh. so much so for technology providing with all the differetn choices. It’s so difficult to decide sometimes.

Ultimately I will still be updating here no matter which blog i post to. Until i make a decision.

It does feel that I’m at this point in my life that I want to experiment around before I commit. Heh. oh wells.

not much of an update!

ok ok… it’s so funny how everytime I promise to come up with a come-back kickass plan, it doesn’t happen! haha.

Neways, I’m really hoping that it will happen soon!! There’s always hope no!!

I think this blog is heading towards the direction of superficialities and bimbotism. so read on if you don’t mind that dash of spice in your life!

I got myself a new camera the other day … in view of the upcoming weddings, concerts and stuff. I have uploaded quite a couple of videos onto my youtube (you can click on the link by the sidebar to my youtube accounts). This little canon baby gave me really great HDD videos of Jay chou whom i’m still in love with after 10 long years!

I did ONE profile shot (i don’t look too good in the others) and here it is..

Had a couple of minutes to spare and went to edit some of my other photos as well… Removed some eyebags and gave myself some better complexion. Heh. Oh wells. (all in the name of practice… I’m so glad that with the canon i have less editing to do in terms of lighting and curves… shall post the before and after photos up on another post.. I’m rushing for time here!)

Love how the colors are so well captured!! Canon love! :)

Back!

I am so so so so happy that I’ve finally gotten a new computer. My previous laptop lasted me for a whooping 8 years. It’s sad to bid goodbye to it.. But i’m definitely happy to meet my new work companion which comes with 23" HD screen, cool speakers.. I’m sure we are going to start a new adventure together! haha. I sound as though I have just gotten attached!

Oh wells. Now that the computer system is updated, I think I should update my camera as well! Perhaps, you will get more bimbotic posts coming soon!! :) We will see how it goes. But definitely hoping that blogging will be a lot more productive.

This is a very random post. I think I have some stuff in my old computer that I have lost cos I didn’t back it up! So i’m definitely going to hope that these things DO NOT happen with this new computer and that things will be backed up every now and then! ;) SIGH.

Alrighties, I’m going to bed. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow. I’m dreading it. but I know that I have to say certain things tomorrow. Pray for me people (Or whatever’s left of the ‘people’ who still read this space!)

Lookbook and makeup!

heh. more lookbook stuff. i’m too lazy to blog about ANYthing these days. esp when the computer is slow and i haven’t gotten photoshop on the system.. and it won’t be on the system till i finally save enough for a new computer. say may be october??

wells. most unfortunately my camera ain’t awesome too.. so i haven’t got many full body shots.. more of the face.. just probably gonna state where i rip the makeup tutorial from and you can google for them.. they are all easily available off youtube. and i love these make up artises! they rock! :)

sigh. i’m sorry that i don’t have more intellectual stuff up here these days. but i think my brain cells and age have a true inversely proportional relationship. so.. here goes.

This was just a very random moment when i decided to wear everything i like together. i didn’t care that they didn’t match.. and that they clash. i just wanted to have some fun. hmm. we were all pretty tired by the time that we got to this photo!! :S my eyes were closing!

makeup: some angelina jolie inspired look. more about that later
dress: Rodarte for target
shoes: Ashish for topshop leopard wedge knockoffs
bag: ohsofickle.com.sg
Earrings (don’t think u can see them here): some taiwan roadside store

A closeup that probably would give you a better idea of the makeup.
The honest truth? I hated it. I hate using black eyeshadow as eyeliner. they ended being very smudged and running EVERYWHERE under my eye. It wasn’t the best tutorial to follow. I should have been wise and used gel eyeliner. Anyway. This was pretty much supposed to be a cat-eye look. I ripped it off from Makeupgeek’s tutorial. Just google up Makeupgeek and angelina jolie. You WILL find the youtube tutorial. I think may be I’m just one of those gals who have lids that make her liners run. Practically ALL pencil liners run on me. So I tend to stick to gel liners or just simple liquid eyeliners. I should get my Benefit Shelaq (this product that promises to prevent smudges) in action more often.

Wore this out to meet XL the other day and decided to camwhore in it as well.
Dress: Hervelvetvase.com

this dress was indecently short. I CANNOT bend over cos it will just hike right up my ass. Anyway. The makeup is by TiffanyD. just google makeupbytiffanyd.. you will either get to her blog or her youtube account. it’s the flirty pink for valentine’s day. it was fun. just that i over-winged with my eyeliner and practically covered up ALL the pink that was on my very very very tiny lids! ha. I still have to say TiffD is one of my fave makeup artises of all times.. her looks are very wearable and they stay on without smudges for a longer period of time

My small eyes absolutely do this makeup look injustice. This is my favourite makeup look out of the 3. and it’s by Michelle Phan. I absolutely love her. She has some really funky looks.. and they are all unique .. gorgeous, wearable.. and last for a long time without smudges! This one is the sunset eye look… i’m sorry that i can’t show the gradient of colours on my lids.. cos my lids are seriously small! but basically it’s a look with gradient of bright colours and dark blue eyeliner .. and bronzer and nude lips! love it!

Dress is a dipdyed blue fringe dress from scarletroom.com

Righties. So … i guess this entry is a good introduction to online makeup artises that you should definitely be checking out on! Tiff D and michelle Phan will get you going for a while! :)

hair extensions

So i decided to do some extensions on xmas eve.

i have ALWAYS wanted to have long permed hair.. cos i thought it wld be fun. But somehow, i have never had the patience for it and the silly hair would never grow to the length that i liked.

So i decided to take the plunge and get my extensions done at ….

Angelxin (chinatown branch). I am too lazy to go and dig for the url. So if you are interested, please google angelxin! :)

Customer service was decent. Just to give you some salient points

Minus points: Receptionist got my appt wrong and made the appt at the City Plaza branch instead of Chinatown Point!! I had to go back twice cos the initial time that they did it.. they gave me too little hair…

Plus points: they had great offers.. the service was good.. the boss gave me some extra strands free.. The total damage done was $200++ which is decent for hair extensions i would reckon

I also went to my usual hairstylist to cut my own hair so that it’d suit the long curls

Heh. the only thing was that.. as soon as i had it on, i wanted to pull it off… cos i miss my short hair. and it didn’t go with half of my wardrobe (being boyish and stuff)..

so.. i felt totally at odds with myself cos i’m definitely NOT this crazy sweet lovely girl. I was having this personality turmoil brewing within me. I got so disgusted with being sweet! i pinned it up… i couldn’t help it! xmas eve was another horrible day (as usual.. almost every xmas eve is bad! i’ve almost given up trying to celebrate it)… heh. and i NEEDED to wear something dark. something black .. and red shoes just to cheer myself up (somehow red just cheers me up). so this is what i came up with…

Items: black sweater from TSR, American Apparel mesh dress, ripped denim shorts from cotton on, red boots from zipia, bodychain from TSR..

so i guess at the end of the day.. it’s pretty versatile now.. that i can wear ultra girly stuff and my boyish stuff! :)

pssssstttt…

have you heard?? OSF is having a backorder of their old items! meaning you can lay your hands on items that you wanted to get but were sold out!!

i’m so excited to get my fix of bodycon dresses! cannn’t wait.

I could blog about shopping all day long.

there are a couple of items that i wanna get from some different places.. but .. i guess i will leave them for another day.

Ashish wedges are back in stock and cost a whooping USD310. i’m just going to wait for some counterfeit version to pop up. and if they don’t i will… just forego them!

I’m getting weak knees when i see dresses these days. i have a pile of them in my wardrobe and nowhere to go in them! there’s just so many limiting factors:

- nobody to go out with aka no date
- no time to go out at all. i’m on call the next 2 weekends
- i enjoy spending time alone these days. and all of my free time - leave, weekends have been spent at home. it was quite enjoyable really.

anyhow. i’m off to reply some mail and try to get my life more organised. i’m excited about my next pay day cos as usual i have this huge shopping list again. sigh. i really should change my shopping habits! :S

till then! ;)

Egg benedict with salmon

Made this on bro’s birthday … i can eat smoked salmon everyday - breakfast, lunch and dinner. yumsss..

i can’t get the succulent taste of the smoked salmon out of my mind. sigh.

My favourite dessert

I got massively addicted to Bread and butter pudding after my former workplace treated us to this dessert during our farewell.

A month ago, i was still telling Saleem that I needed bread and butter pudding to treat my depression.

So on a very very very random whim, i decided to make the dish today (since the ingredients have been sitting in my fridge for VERY LONG)..

I ate half of it up. And the vanilla custard… it’s to die for. If you like condensed milk, you will love this.. because… it tastes not as sweet, has a vanilla twist to it and is absolutely LOVELY with the pudding.

This one is going onto my Christmas dinner recipe plans. ;)
